As football continues to thrive in the Asian football region, on the 1st June 2021, AFC qualification fixture involving two rival nations saw the Malaysian national team produce one of its most famous victories in their international history when defeating rival neighbours Thailand in the FIFA World Cup campaign.
This victory not only shows progress within the football mad country, but it also keeps alive the dream of gaining qualification to the next stages for Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
In line with the progress of the national team in the sport, further national interest in the football industry within the region has led to the development and recognition in the sports related academic program offered in the Faculty of Sports Science and Recreation, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Malaysia.
This progression and modern approach within the institution has led to the official partnership agreement between themselves and the world renowned International Soccer Science and Performance Federation (ISSPF).
The signing of agreement is led by UiTM’s Vice Chancellor, Emeritus Professor Datuk Ir. Dr. Mohd Azraai Kassim. This is witnessed by the Dean of the Faculty of Sports Science and Recreation UiTM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohad Anizu Mohd Noor.
The aim of this partnership is to provide Malaysian coaches, practitioners and staff from the country and local communities, cutting edge, online football training resources.
As we know, the demand for football science, sports science, athletic trainers, sport therapists, performance & coaching specialists in team sports is growing year upon year.
This is certainly an interesting question as progressing from completing a sporting, fitness, medical or therapy related degree to then working in professional football & trying to understand all the key components, soft skills that come with jobs in football or careers within sport.
