Daniel Ortiz

(BSc HONS, MBA, UEFA A Licence)

Daniel Ortiz is a UEFA-qualified goalkeeping and coaching practitioner with extensive experience across elite youth development and first-team environments, recognised for blending goalkeeper methodology with modern training design and set-piece integration. Educated in Spain, he completed a degree in Geography at the Universitat de Barcelona (2013–2017) and later an MBA in Sports Entity Management and Sports Tourism at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) (Oct 2021–Nov 2022), supporting his work across performance, programme structure, and coaching operations.

He is currently the First Team Goalkeeper Coach and Set Pieces Coach at FC Andorra (from July 2024), working day-to-day in a senior professional environment where goalkeeper development is aligned with tactical and set-piece demands. Prior to this role, he served as First Team Assistant Goalkeeper Coach at Brentford FC (Jul 2023–May 2024), contributing to first-team preparation and goalkeeper support within a Premier League performance context. Before moving to England, Ortiz worked in Canada as First Team Goalkeeper Coach and Head of Goalkeeping at Pacific Football Club (Feb 2023–Jul 2023), leading the goalkeeping programme and shaping training content for the first-team group.

A defining period of his career was spent at FC Barcelona, where he served as a Youth Teams Goalkeeper Coach from July 2016 to February 2023 based at Sant Joan Despí. Across nearly seven years in one of the world’s most renowned academy systems, he supported goalkeeper development through the age groups, applying a clear methodology that links technical foundations, tactical decision-making, and long-term athlete development within a consistent club playing model.

Ortiz holds the UEFA GK A Goalkeeper Coach qualification (Football Association of Wales, issued May 2024) and the Spanish FA advanced outfield coaching award (RFEF, issued June 2018). He speaks English and is profiled for soccer-specific training with a focus on training methodology, particularly in goalkeeping development and the integration of goalkeepers within the wider tactical and set-piece framework of the team.
