Alberto Guerrero Calderon

Alberto Guerrero Calderon is a chartered sports physiotherapist and educator whose work spans elite football support, advanced musculoskeletal practice, and coach/clinician education. With a strong clinical profile and specialist interest in soccer physical screening, testing, and monitoring, he is known for combining hands-on treatment expertise with robust assessment and decision-making processes that support performance and availability.

Alberto is an Associate Lecturer at Teesside University (since April 2024), contributing to postgraduate education at Level 7, including teaching in soft-tissue and joint injection therapy. Alongside his university teaching, he has been a Professor with ISSPF (since October 2019), where he supports practitioner learning through applied content connected to screening, clinical reasoning, and performance-focused monitoring in football.

Clinically, Alberto has extensive experience in musculoskeletal care. He worked at Connect Health for nearly eight years, progressing through senior roles including Senior MSK Physiotherapist and later Extended Scope Practitioner / First Contact Practitioner (May 2020–November 2025). These roles reflect advanced responsibility in assessment, triage, and management of complex MSK presentations, integrating evidence-informed treatment planning with safe, efficient pathways for patient and athlete care.

In high-performance sport, he has also delivered freelance physiotherapy services through Fusion5 Performance GmbH(May 2021–November 2025), providing treatment support to elite football players, including those operating at top professional levels. Earlier in his pathway, he also worked as a Senior MSK Physiotherapist at The Integrated Care Clinics (2017), building further clinical depth in private MSK practice.

Alberto’s education includes training across institutions such as the University of Essex (with qualifications in injection therapy), as well as academic study linked to the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the University of Malaga. He is a Chartered Physiotherapist and holds HCPC registration, reflecting accredited professional standards for UK practice.

Fluent in Spanish, English, Portuguese, and Catalan, Alberto brings a multidisciplinary, applied approach to football environments—supporting teams through physical screening and profilingtesting and monitoring systems, and high-quality MSK treatment that links rehabilitation to performance readiness.
