ISSPF officially partners with the Latvian football federation to provide accreditation & endorsement for online sport science & football coaching education courses
As football develops across the globe and continues to drive media interest & passion, across the Baltic regions there is a movement occurring with the aim of propelling the so-called smaller nations to ‘think-big’ in order to achieve relative success.
As some nations have already achieved success with player development & coaching education program, the Latvian Football Federation is undertaking a development in football progression.
Although Latvia are not known as a footballing powerhouse, and to many no players of Latvian origin are well-known to football fans across the world, the English Premier League still fondly remembers the Southampton FC striker Marian Pahars.
After a fantastic playing career spanning 16 years, Pahars became a pioneer within the Latvian game moving to play in the Premier League, and more importantly, is known as one of his nation’s greatest footballers to light the fire in young Latvian players.
Now working as Technical Director in the Latvian Football Federation, Pahars knows exactly what it takes to assist the next crop of talents within the country to progress in their careers both in the National Team and abroad, and as a result, the importance placed on coaching education and performance staff within the country has grown.
As part of this progression within the Latvijas Futbola federācija football coaches, fitness coaches, sport scientists, physios or physical therapists aspiring to work at the cutting edge of game developing the next generation of players need to be familiar with nutrition, psychology, injury prevention, strength, training methodology and conditioning development.
As a result of this innovation and thirst for knowledge in the federation, the official collaboration & agreement between the Latvian Football Federation & the globally acclaimed International Soccer Science and Performance Federation (ISSPF) to provide bespoke, online sport performance, football science training courses & resources delivered by leading international academic & performance professionals is now underway.
The online courses are developed and delivered by some of the leading sport science and football coaching practitioners from associations & the elite level around the world such: Manchester United FC, Olympiakos, Boca Juniors, Chelsea, Trabzonspor, Besiktas, Leicester City, SL Benfica, FC Rennes, Porto, England Football Association, Spanish Football Federation, Major League Football clubs and many more.
These specific courses are developed for coaches, support staff, learners and students from all levels of academic range, ability and knowledge in the Baltic region. The University endorsed & accredited courses provide content & insights into the workings of team sport performance coaching covering: Nutrition, Psychology & Mental Skills Training, Sport Management, Youth & Athletic Development, Football Training Methodology, Fitness & Conditioning Training, Tactical Analysis, Talent Identification, Goalkeeper Coaching Science & Injury Reduction & Return to Play.
