Based on the success of the English football in recent times through both development of the national team as well as the globally renowned English Premier League, the influence football science plays within the game continues to grow exponentially. With the country being considered as a world leader in the coaching education of football, the detail and growth mentality surrounding the education of ‘football science’ amongst coaches and practitioners in the UK is very apparent.
As more and more elite level practitioners come into the game across sport science, coaching, medicine and physiotherapy, the need and thirst for cutting edge resources to stay ahead of the competition within the game is vital. As the Department for Rehabilitation and Sport Sciences within the Bournemouth University (BU) expands, the unique collaboration between themselves and the globally acclaimed International Soccer Science and Performance Federation (ISSPF) to provide cutting edge, bespoke, online football science and performance courses & resources delivered by leading football professionals from around the world has now been formalised.
The online ISSPF courses offered through BU have been developed and delivered by some of the leading sport science and football coaching practitioners from internationally recognised football associations. The ISSPF faculty members include experts from across the English Premier League, La Liga, German Bundesliga as well as Major League Soccer clubs and other elite level clubs and national teams.
Amanda Wilding, who will oversee the collaboration between the two parties as placement lead, explained, “Bournemouth University are extremely excited and pleased to finally secure this partnership link with ISSPF. The partnership will provide our students & sporting communities the opportunity to access top-level educational content from football and academic experts across the globe through our growing department here at BU.
As a sport science provider with links to the football industry, we pride ourselves on our relationships with industry experts and this link with ISSPF will allow us to further expand our learning options for our current students, coaches & alumni associates, who aspire to work at the highest level of the game. We are collaborating to provide numerous exciting resources with ISSPF in addition to continued professional development certification and short courses, as well as working towards an online masters program, that will provide coaches, sports scientists, physiotherapists, S&C staff, as well as medical practitioners with exposure to some of the leading methods and best practice globally. This is a fantastic initiative, and I am excited that Bournemouth University can contribute to the applied football education here in England”.
The educational outcomes provided through collaboration are open to almost anyone involved in the game or with an interest to further themselves, as well as ideal to provide performance insights, continued professional development, extended learning & additional qualifications for individuals with a thirst to learn.
As a leading online football education organisation, ISSPF is seen as the trusted partner of elite, semi-professional, amateur and youth football clubs, international federations, as well as colleges, universities and training institutes worldwide.
This exciting partnership will look to provide a unique and bespoke football specific educational platform for all those wanting to expand upon their knowledge of the game. All courses can be performed whilst travelling or at home, at any time of the day and are generated around the learning time frame of the individual.
