Ignacio García Bilbao is a sport scientist and data analyst with a strong applied base in academy performance optimisation, blending strength training, physical preparation, and GPS-based load monitoring with an increasingly advanced academic focus on data-driven performance enhancement.
He has recent high-level experience within Sevilla FC’s Performance Optimisation Department, working on-site across the club’s academy structure. After an initial internship period (November 2023–March 2024), he continued in the department from May 2024 to May 2025, contributing to day-to-day work in strength development, conditioning support, and GPS monitoring with Sevilla FC’s youth teams. This role reflects practical exposure to elite academy processes—where training load control, physical development, and performance reporting must align with player development priorities and weekly competition demands.
Alongside his work in 11-a-side football, García Bilbao has also supported performance in futsal as Physical Trainer (Preparador físico) for Nazareno Dos Hermanas FS (August 2023–May 2024). In that first-team role (Spanish Tercera División), he was responsible for load control, physical conditioning, player evaluations, and performance optimisation, while also collaborating on session planning and the structure of the weekly training process—experience that strengthens his applied understanding of how physical outputs change across game formats and competitive contexts.
His coaching and development background includes work in grassroots environments in Seville, progressing through assistant and head coaching responsibilities. He was Head Coach of an F7 team at C.D. La Unión del Porvenir (August 2021–July 2022), then worked as Assistant Coach and Physical Trainer for an 11-a-side youth team at the same club (August 2022–July 2023). Earlier, he served as an assistant coach across multiple age groups at Los Remedios United C.F. (August 2020–September 2021), contributing across benjamín to cadete stages.
Academically, Ignacio is currently undertaking a PhD in Sport Sciences at Universidad Pablo de Olavide (October 2025–November 2027), specialising in data-based performance optimisation. He also completed a Master’s in Sports Big Data at UCAM (October 2024–August 2025). His postgraduate development includes additional training in advanced sports analytics with Python, fundamentals of football data analysis, and statistics and mathematics applied to sport using R, reinforcing a profile that combines practical field work with modern data science capability.
