Aurel Nazmiu is a football data scientist and currently serves as Lead Data Scientist at Twenty First Group (Aug 2025–present, London). His work specialises in applied analytics for recruitment intelligence, performance prediction, and benchmarking teams, leagues, and managers across global football, building sophisticated models that help compare competitive levels between countries and evaluate the impact of transfer spending on performance outcomes. Alongside supporting professional teams, his analysis has also contributed to wider media discussion around player value and managerial performance, with appearances and commentary featured across platforms such as ESPN, The Athletic, and long-form football analytics content on YouTube.
Within Twenty First Group, Aurel progressed through several roles, moving from Data Analyst (Jul 2019–Dec 2020) to Data Scientist (Jan 2021–Dec 2022), then Senior Data Scientist (Jan 2023–Aug 2025), before stepping into his current Lead Data Scientist position. He is also an ISSPF faculty member, delivering lectures in soccer data science and applied football analytics to support coach and analyst development.
He holds a First-Class Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Leicester and has completed the CFA UK Investment Management Certificate (issued Jan 2019), alongside Bloomberg Market Concepts.
